How do you encourage young girls to listen to more empowering music than what they'd find on the typical Top 40 radio stations and Spotify's algorhithmic playlists they normally listen to? You partner with the Girl Scouts of America. Using their annual cookie boxes as a canvas.
Riot Grrrl is a sub-genre of Punk that combines feminist idiology with punk DIY spirt. Aesthetically, Riot Grrrl and the Girl Scouts couldn't be more different. Philosophically, they are a match made in heaven.

For this mashup to work, the designs needed to borrow from both the Girl Scouts and Riot Grrl.
To solve this, I used the layout and colors of the original cookie boxes as a starting point and layered the Riot Grrrl aesthetic over them.

Augmented Reality
To bring the boxes to life, we'll enable AR features in the Girl Scouts app. When the user points the camera at a box, the middle segment will be replaced with performances and interviews related to the featured band.
The Girl Scouts will also create a special grid on their Instagram to promote the cookies. The grid will continue the design of the new boxes featuring lyrics, photos and graphics associated with the Riot Grrrl movement.
