Ruining the Minds of Young Creatives since 2015

Mentoring & Teaching

As an intern/junior creative, I had a number of great mentors and decided that when the opportunity would arise I wanted be the same for others.

Since 2015 I've tried to do just that serving as an internship coordinator for two agencies, informal mentor and now a teacher in two different programs.

"A Different Type of Magic", MUD\WTR

book180, 2023

"Josh is an incredible mentor. He comes to the table with high expectations, clear communication and expert guidance and advice, that will push you to creative break-throughs and growth. After 7 weeks as a student in [Josh's] campaigns class at Book180, I have seen massive improvements in not only the way I conceptualize campaigns but also how I create them. He taught me how to sit down with an idea and work through all the tiny details to take it from a good idea to a great one that would stand out in a real agency."

"You don’t get a better mentor than Josh. Always going above and beyond to help, always imparting wisdom without superiority, and always up for a laugh. Josh inspires me to be a better creative and challenges me when he knows I can do better. I’m jealous of his ideas, but lucky to have his guidance!"

"It's Unadulting Time", Recess

book180, 2023

"In seven short weeks, Josh pushed my creativity, concepting, and writing harder than it ever has been. He taught me the importance of only pitching work you’re excited about and how the nitty-gritty details can sell your idea. Every week I walked in thinking I’d nailed it, he had trustworthy advice on how to make it better. With his guidance, I now have a much better eye for execution and I’ve impressed myself more than I ever thought possible."

"Oh the Places You'll Go", Honda Accord

book180, 2023

"[Josh] is different from any other teacher I’ve had in portfolio school—his class was the first time I felt like a junior creative rather than a student. Josh stressed the importance of every single detail, from the overall concept to the most minuscule element. And he doesn't mince words with his feedback. He’s direct, candid, and gives honest criticism to push you in the right direction. The work his students walk away with reflects his commitment to his craft."

"I really appreciated [Josh's] awareness of being a white male in the advertising industry and making sure we had female voices weigh in on our ideas every time we met. He was always rooting for our success and made our time with him as a mentor worthwhile."
